Shariah Issues On International Trade
Shariah Issues on International Trade is designed to help professionals, students, and entrepreneurs understand the Islamic legal framework governing cross-border trade. The course examines fundamental rules from the Qur’an and Sunnah that regulate buying, selling, importing, exporting, and financing trade transactions.
Participants will gain practical insights into Shariah-compliant trade contracts such as Murabahah for goods financing, Salam and Istisna’ for pre-delivery sales, and Wakalah for agency-based transactions. They will also explore how modern trade finance tools—such as Letters of Credit and Bills of Exchange—can be adapted to meet Shariah requirements.
Special attention is given to avoiding prohibited elements like interest (riba), excessive uncertainty (gharar), gambling-like speculation (maisir), and the trade of unlawful products. The course also addresses contemporary issues in global commerce, including e-commerce, blockchain in trade, halal certification in exports, and Islamic trade finance solutions.
Through interactive discussions and case studies, learners will develop the ability to identify Shariah risks, propose compliant solutions, and ensure that international trade activities are both profitable and Islamically sound.
